Lux Look!

Vivienne Tam
Sweet 7 reader, "Janene" was kind enough to email me yesterday with this fun interactive "Vivienne Tam Virtual CatWalk." Choose five pieces you'd rock on the runway. Upload your fiercest face, and walk the Vivienne Tam Catwalk.

The Look
”China chic,” as Tam calls it, which, for her, encompasses everything from hand-beaded evening gowns and flouncy dresses to sleek, embroidered kimonos with a modern fit.

The Alexander McQueen Private Pre-Spring 2009 Show is now live! "This collection plays with contrasts: the masculine and the feminine."

"Retrospective" - "One part of him (Alexander Mcqueen) loves the decadence of in your face sexuality; strong pagoda shoulders, latex, masculine tailoring, leather cut like lace, harnesses and huge hair but the other is attracted to an almost eighteenth century concept of feminine refinement and grace; rose embroidery, lace mantillas, ... both are about empowering women through beautiful garments. - Colin McDowell

Can't afford this but although I like the entire line, this is my favorite: ALEXANDER MCQUEEN Striped column dress $1,595

Manolo Blahnik on Flat Shoes
Flat shoes are not Mr. Manolo Blahnik's favorite. Anyone can look sexy in a heel but apparently, the true test of a woman's elegance is in the way she walks without one.

"It's much more difficult to be beautiful and walk femininely in flats, Bardot in France did it and Audrey Hepburn in America. They looked fantastic and walked like tigers, beautiful and graceful, but you can walk like a beach bum in them - then they don't look so good." says the designer. [British Vogue]

  1. I'm a member of gilt but I actually prefer Hautelook.com. They have more of my favorite designers and I think they have better deals too. Plus you don't need an invite to join, anyone can just sign up.

  2. I'm a member of both Hautelook and Gilt, but I've found that Gilt has a MUCH better selection. Plus, who can beat their roster of designers! xoxo
