I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE THAT CARNIVAL BANDS IN ST LUCIA ARE FINALLY GETTING THE PICTURE & LAUNCHING EARLIER. BY RIGHT I THINK THEY SHOULD BE LAUNCHING @ LEAST 6 MONTHS IN ADVANCE. SAME GOES FOR OUR MUSIC BUT THAT'S ANOTHER TOPIC FOR ANOTHER DAY LOL. BUT BACK TO THE BANDS. LAUNCHING IN ADVANCE IS SUCH A GOOD THING FOR SO MANY REASONS. FOR 1 IT AFFORDS POTENTIAL REVELLERS ENOUGH TIME TO SEE WHAT THEIR OPTIONS ARE & MOST IMPORTANTLY, IN THIS TOUGH GLOBAL ECONOMIC CLIMATE, IT GIVES THEM ENOUGH TIME TO SAVE UP FOR THEIR COSTUME OF CHOICE. LAUNCHING EARLY ALSO HELPS THE BAND AS THEY HAVE MORE TIME TO MARKET THEIR PORTRAYAL & AFFORDS THEM THE LUXURY OF EXPLORING REGIONAL & INTERNATIONAL MARKETS FOR POTENTIAL REVELLERS. IT ALSO GIVES THEM TIME TO MAKE ANY CHANGES TO DIFFERENT COSTUMES BASED ON RESPONSES. I KNOW THEY ALL HAVE A TEAM RESPONSIBLE FOR DECIDING ON THE FINAL PRODUCT BUT WHAT THAT TEAM MAY HAVE THOUGHT WAS A STELLAR DESIGN MAY NOT ACTUALLY GO OVER WELL WITH POTENTIAL REVELLERS & LAUNCHING EARLY GIVES THEM THE TIME TO BE ABLE TO MAKE ANY NECESSARY CHANGES OR UPGRADES ETC. ALL IN ALL KUDOS TO THE BANDS 1ST OUT THE GATE, HERE'S HOPING THAT THE ACTUAL LAUNCHES WILL BEGIN SOONER THAN LATER. SEEING AS TRINIDAD IS GONNA BE INUNDATED WITH TONS OF CARNIVAL ENTHUSIASTS IN THE COMING WEEKS (INCLUDING THE SWEET 7 IN HER CAGED CANARY COSTUME LOL) IT WOULD BE STRATEGICALLY BENEFICIAL TO OUR BANDS TO HAVE SOME KIND OF MARKETING MATERIAL READY TO DISTRIBUTE DOWN THERE. I'M JUST GLAD THAT THE DISCUSSION ON LUCIAN MAS CAN BEGIN AGAIN IN EARNEST & LIKE LAST YR THE SWEET 7 IS ONCE AGAIN LEADING THE CHARGE LOL THANKS
Professor, it's great to see you commenting again. I look forward to spending hours with you in chat rooms while we watch the various St.Lucian pre-Carnival events from a distance, in 2 separate states. LOL!
Also I gave up on my "Caged Canary" dreams when my friend wanted us to agree upon a similar section, so I am in Spangled Cotinga. Only problem is she is no longer going! Haha. ...And I did have thoughts of selling/trading for a CC costume ... but you know what things happen for a reason, so I am sticking with SC!
The Sweet 7: Fashion, Carnival, Makeup, Travel, Humour, Arts & Culture, Music too ... and all the additional eclectic extras from a Caribbean woman and a 30 s/thing mother, living in the USA.
About Me: I love shopping, travel, music, a good drink ... and lately, carnival!
I'm eclectic and versatile. I love a good deal or value for my money but I like to splurge once in a while! I am an island girl, from St.Lucia who loves sun and water. I love exposed skin ... just enough! I also like the idea of 'leaving s/thing to the imagination'. I attended college in Miami, Florida ... that says it all! Just imagine discovering yourself in Miami! LOL!
I've been married for 8 years and I am mother to a 3 year old girl. I still feel sexy, yet motherly!
I lived 5 years in the 'Green Mountain' state, Vermont! Vermont has wonderful people and great food. Summer 2009, we relocated to Washington, D.C - Northern Virginia.
I'm an avid traveller. If not in Trinidad jumping Carnival or St.Lucia for Jazz, I love distant destinations. I adore exotic cultures. I have travelled to international cities; Hong Kong, Sydney, London, Amsterdam, Dubai, Bangkok and Phuket.
I love traveling through out North America since there's so much to discover here too!
USA: I have driven the entire East Coast (Miami, Florida to Burlington, Vermont) in 26 hours. I have visited San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Boston, NYC, Washington D.C, Maryland, Virginia, Chicago, Atlanta, Orlando, Tampa and The Keys.
Canada: I have driven from Burlington, Vermont to Toronto, Canada. It took 7 hours. ... And since Montreal, Quebec is a 1 1/2 hour drive from Burlington, Vermont, I've been numerous times.
Caribbean: The Bahamas (Freeport & Nassau), Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Martinique (sailed there on a yacht when I was 5)
I've stepped foot numerous other places, although did not stay long enough. I have crossed the international date line a few times and flown over the Arctic and Iraq!
