I'm always proud of the fact that in 2003, I read more than 50 (out of 100) books on the New York Times Best Sellers List. I have not read much since. I have also seen all the great movie classics!  All thanks to the Miami-Dade Public Library System, particularly my local library West Kendall Regional library.  Find your LOCAL LIBRARY!

Today, it was on my agenda to visit my local library in my new state, but my GPS could not locate it. Disappointed, I headed straight home. After reading this list, I doubt any of Obama's 5 summer reads will be available in my local library tomorrow!

The list of five books president Obama has packed for his trip:
The Way Home by George Pelecanos, a crime thriller based in Washington, D.C.;
Lush Life by Richard Price, a story of race and class set in New York's Lower East Side;
• Tom Friedman's Hot, Flat, and Crowded, on the benefits to America of an environmental revolution;
• John Adams by David McCullough;
Plainsong by Kent Haruf, a drama about the life of eight different characters living in a Colorado prairie community.
