What's up with those abdominals?

In the US, summer time is "bikini weather", but for Caribbean offspring, this is just the on going "Carnival Season".

Over the next two months, I have friends who are participating in carnival revelry from Washington, D.C, St.Lucia, Toronto to Barbados. ...And then, there are some crazy folks who are definitely, participating in St.Lucia's Carnival which ends on July 22, then a week later, continuing on to Toronto's Caribana or Barbados' Cropover, on August 2 and 4, 2008 respectively.

It also sucks when Trinidad Carnival bands tease me in June for next year's carnival, with costumes and bodies such as the one above. Am I to lose my mind? Or do I have to continue to read Facebook status updates like, "Y is tired from all this damn gym workout!!!! 6 pack 6 pack"? ... When her body looks like this!

Or am I to accept E's MSN screen names that say, "Damn U Ny and your blog!! My Flickin' Thighs!"? ... And she's already 100% in-shape and toned!

Or am I to dwell over my pre-baby body when I had abdominals of steel?

So there are options either Pilates or Pretend?

Pilates:
Pilates was formed by Joseph Pilates during the First World War with the proposal to improve the rehabilitation program for the many returning veterans. Joseph Pilates’ mantra was, “In 10 sessions you’ll feel a difference, in 20 you’ll see a difference and in 30 you’ll have a new body.” Results are individual and dependent on one's level of commitment.

Joseph Pilates believed mental and physical health are essential to one another. He recommended a few, precise movements emphasizing control and form to aid injured soldiers in regaining their health by strengthening, stretching, and stabilizing key muscles. Pilates created "The Pilates Principles" to condition the entire body: proper alignment, centering, concentration, control, precision, breathing, and flowing movement. Essentially, all Pilates exercises are abdominal exercises, working from the powerhouse.

Pilates moves are by far the best abdominal exercises. Where crunches work primarily the rectus abdominus (the large "six pack" of muscle in the center of the abdomen), Pilates works the deeper abdominal muscles and the stabilizers that help to hold it all in. It has also been shown to lengthen the muscles substantially, giving a taller, leaner appearance. If you want to look smaller in the waist, definitely try Pilates.
