Book Lovers - Island Girls Read!

In April, when I asked "What's on your summer reading list?", I was toying with the idea of setting a five book summer reading challenge for myself. As of today, I have read eight books and bumped up my summer goal to read 15 books.

Here are a few quotes from books, about none other than 'BOOKS'. The following quotes simplistically explain how I chose my summer 2013 reads and rejoining a friend's online book club this summer has also had many perks. Last night, only minutes after I wrote the 'draft' for this post, the latter two quotes stared at me from my current read. I call that magic! By the way, if you're a book worm is the website for you.

“Books can be possessive, can't they? You're walking around in a bookstore and a certain one will jump out at you, like it had moved there on its own, just to get your attention. Sometimes what's inside will change your life, but sometimes you don't even have to read it. Sometimes it's a comfort just to have a book around. Many of these books haven't even had their spines cracked. 'Why do you buy books you don't even read?' our daughter asks us. That's like asking someone who lives alone why they bought a cat. For company, of course.”   ― The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison (read summer 2012)

“Perhaps there is some secret sort of homing instinct in books that brings them to their perfect readers. How delightful if that were true.” ― The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer

“That's what I love about reading: one tiny thing will interest you in a book, and that tiny thing will lead you to another book, and another bit there will lead you onto a third book. It's geometrically progressive - all with no end in sight, and for no other reason than sheer enjoyment.” ― The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer

My Summer 2013 Reading List:

I have read so far this summer:

Other books I have in mind, may change my mind:
(as I await to see which other books are flippant for my undying attention. LOL!)

Life After Life - Kate Atkinson
Serena - Ron Rash

#NERD ... but not even remotely dorky!
